The summer of 2019 was big for me and my family. First, me and my wife had our first baby, Isabella Grace Jimenez, 7 pounds, 7 ounces on 7/11! Secondly, I landed my dream job! After years of trying, I finally got a job with my hometown Dallas Mavericks as the Senior Motion Graphics Designer. While it was sad that I had to say Goodbye to my team at the Spurs, I was happy that I was coming home, getting to make graphics for Luka Doncic and KP!
During my interview, my Boss, Jonathan Kornblith, mentioned that he always wanted to have a Rockem Sockem robot animation, where we knocked the block off the opposing team.
Production time was about 4 weeks. I modelled everything from scratch, and composited everything via multipass in order to swap out opponents.
This was the result. Song is BoneCrusher’s Never Scared. Created in C4D and Redshift.
Shoutout to Jonathan, Dale and Jerome for bringing me on board the Mavs. It’s still hard to believe I get to make 3D motion graphics for my favorite team.
